Professor Barthol 101
Professor Suanne Barthol is a shining example of climbing the ladder to obtain the leadership positions we aspire to have. With a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from the College of St. Benedict, and an MBA from The University of St. Thomas, Suanne has used her education within the insurance industry. “I’ve worked in the insurance industry my entire career. I started in underwriting, moved into management, and then operations. Today I work within process improvement, project management, training and educating.”
As a professor for the St. Kate’s MBA program, Suanne teaches Operational Excellence, which is a perfect fit because of her undeniable experience and success in the workforce. Her passion for teaching began when she was a student. She notes that the professors who coupled their teaching careers with actual work experience seemed to deliver high quality learning outcomes because of their “real-life” experiences.
This led Suanne to St. Kate’s, where she hopes to give back to students who are working to develop themselves professionally. “As I have progressed in my career, I have had the opportunity to mentor less experienced employees, and I found that part of my role very rewarding. Therefore, I wanted to try my hand instructing at the collegiate level in a familiar environment, and see if I too can bring the book to life for our next set of leaders.”
Who is she, really?
