Professor Hedberg 101
For Professor Todd Hedberg, it’s all about instilling passion within the classroom. “More than anything else, I hope my students walk away from graduation with a newfound passion for their current field or new opportunities to flourish both professionally and personally. On top of that, I hope they find confidence in themselves to not only demonstrate a high level of acumen in their field but as self-managers that can take on simultaneous challenges and succeed.”
With an extremely impressive background, Professor Hedberg teaches Branding & Digital Storytelling for the St. Kate’s MBA program. Here’s a snapshot of his professional accomplishments:
- Bachelor’s degree from Gustavus Adolphus College
- MBA from the University of St. Thomas
- Digital Marketing Director for Widex USA
- Experience as a Senior Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager
Who is he, really?
We asked Professor Hedberg a series of questions to figure out who he is as a “real human being” outside of the classroom. Here’s what he had to say:
How many cups of coffee do you drink per day?
None, not sure how I do it but I make it through the day without caffeine.
What is something – outside of education – that you are extremely passionate about?
Boating and waterskiing. Not too long ago I learned to barefoot waterski and joined the Twin Cities River Rats ski team to improve my skills (and reduce injuries from falling).
Are you a dog or cat person?
Dog. I have always had Golden Retrievers until my wife and I recently adopted a Black Lab mix that we named Solana (Sunshine in Spanish).
What’s your favorite thing to do in the Twin Cities?
Be on a lake or a great patio in the summer. Mostly to just be outside the precious months we can.
What’s your favorite quote?
“Sometimes the quietest people actually have the most to say.” – A quote by Martin Scorsese about Bob Dylan that often reminds me to be a better listener and question-asker, and also plays well with storytelling topics for brands trying to find their voice on social media.
Who’s your favorite superhero?
Tell us about a person or situation that has had a significant impact on your life.
My father has become my role model as I continue to transition into new life stages. His work ethic and willingness to put in the extra effort for others is a trait I strive to emulate.
What energizes you to head to campus each day?
As an Adjunct Professor, my time on campus is short but very sweet. I have been so impressed by the engagement from the MBA students, and that builds so much excitement for my next class session!
If you could tell your 20-year-old self one thing, what would it be?
Pursue every opportunity to explore new subjects and gain new experiences to expand your enjoyment and passion for the world.
